When I was doing a weekly video blog for NBC.com, I was honored and thrilled to try to “leverage” the visibility towards someone as inspiring as Drew Olanoff. I also worked with a corporate client to try to channel their resources towards Drew’s fight.

Unfortunately, neither was quite as effective as I wanted. I wish my efforts were more fruitful, but it is freakin’ THRILLING to see the “BlameDrewsCancer” message and Drew’s positive presence exploding across the cultural headspace (and into Drew Carey’s namespace).

I just returned from my 9th year speaking at the South By Southwest Interactive conference in Austin, Texas. One thing I heard often was, “What?! You have a show on NBC.com? What the…!!? Um, I mean… ‘That’s great!’”

This video explains a little bit about how my hosting role happened.

The truth is, it was only when I stopped trying to get on a show that I was in the right place to be on one.

Okay, okay… I was wrong. Or at least, my mind has been changed. Seriously. After reading the responses to my “Sports Suck” video, I feel like I have a much better understanding of this whole “Sports” thang that I keep seeing on TV…

It was 30 years ago, and I am still ashamed of what I did to Andrew.

In April, Micki and I went to the NBC studios to audition as co-hosts for a yet-to-exist web show. The day was a hoot.

When all was said and done, Micki ended up passing on the project and I signed on to host solo.

6 months later, the site is still under construction, but the video blog has launched!
