Video from Hug Tour Day 1

October 1st, 2007

Getting ready to find a rest stop to crash at the end of HUG TOUR DAY 1. Woo-Hoo!!! Silly, road-edited video posted to hugmobile.com!

Love is, actually…on the road.

October 1st, 2007

Huggy is packed. I picked up Spotman around 10am.
We’re mid-California now.
We need to be in Seattle by Wednesday.

I feel…a bit scared. A bit excited.
Time to just push away from the shore and let this big pink raft float downstream.

sorry about that!

What is a Hug Tour?

September 27th, 2007

What is a Hug Tour?

It’s not really like a band’s tour, since there is no entertainment.

It’s more like designating specific physical places (at specific times) as focusing points for positive, loving energy. (An unofficial pronoia flash mob)

I’ll give an explanation of the tour and a talk of some sort. Probably something about grandpa, HugNation, and something vaguely spiritual.

Then we’ll all hug.
It is an excuse to love
A reminder to feel the connection we have to every other person on the planet.

It is more about an *intention* than any specific activity.

And hopefully we’ll learn a little bit more about each other. Maybe share a tale or a laugh with other huggers.
We’ll know that, by being drawn to this same place, we probably have lots of overlap in values.

I mean, anyone who can appreciate Grandpa Caleb *and* me has to be a special type of person. ;)

Is it family friendly? Yes.
Is it religious? No.
Is it spiritual? Yes.
Does it contain crystals or Secrets? No.

I suggest you wear pink and wear a nametag. (I’ll bring a roll of “Hello, my name is ____” stickers.)

Feel free to bring gifts. (your presence counts. But you might be surprised how good it feels to share some of yourself (cookie, bracelet, fortune, song, carving, tea, chips & guac) with a stranger who becomes a new friend.

Hope to see you!!!

BURNINGMAN07 012

I’m processing the experiences from Burning Man right now.
Including the lessons from the Hugmobile’s Journey/breakdowns (see Hugmobile.com)

I plan to have more words & video up soon. As well as more info on the Hug Tour in October and an uber special HugNation on tuesday. Thanks for the patience….The transition has not been easy.

the pleasure of homemade gifts

August 20th, 2007

I am such a fan of homemade gifts and cards.

My family always makes cards for each other. My brother has become quite the photochop card artist, even.

And once in a while an online friend that I’ve never met physically, creates a physical gift that is truly touching.

Check out this SWEEEET board Kelly made for Huggy.
She said to bring it to Burning Man and lplace out so people can talk to Huggy/leave messages when I’m away from camp.    SO. COOL.

THANK YOU, Kelly!

NOTE: If anyone wants me to bring something to burning man to burn, I will be happy to.  (anything that could be printed out, that it. Your words or scans)
send to BURN2007@styn.net

here’s another reaaaalllly cool homemade gift from Pamela:

I’m tearing up as I write this…

August 8th, 2007

As I look outside my window, I can see the Hugmobile parked on the street.
It is 24 feet of pink glory.
I can hardly believe that 3 months ago, it only existed in my imagination.

But with the help of Spotman, John The Grease Angel, GriffinOne, and my Mom, I have adopted and transformed this neglected Winnebago into a pink chariot of love.

I’m tearing up as I write this.

I sometimes beat myself up for not doing everything I say I will. (How’s that book coming along, Johnny boy!?)

But I did it. I made my vision into reality.

And I truly feel that my grandpa was a part of the process. Not as some sort of overseeing ghost, but in the way he is a part of me as a mentor and guide.

To make sure he is also a part of the journey, GriffinOne & I mixed some of his ashes into the paint on both of The Hugmobile’s wings.

Of course, this is just the start. There is still Burning Man, and The Hug Tour, and all sorts of interior touches I’d like to add. But every day in Southern California will be a little bit pinker thanks to the birth of the HugMobile.

Am I proud? Yes, I am.

I think Grandpa would be, too.
