the pleasure of homemade gifts

Monday, August 20th, 2007

I am such a fan of homemade gifts and cards.

My family always makes cards for each other. My brother has become quite the photochop card artist, even.

And once in a while an online friend that I’ve never met physically, creates a physical gift that is truly touching.

Check out this SWEEEET board Kelly made for Huggy.
She said to bring it to Burning Man and lplace out so people can talk to Huggy/leave messages when I’m away from camp.    SO. COOL.

THANK YOU, Kelly!

NOTE: If anyone wants me to bring something to burning man to burn, I will be happy to.  (anything that could be printed out, that it. Your words or scans)

Grandpa’s Writing

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

Rev Jack Keikle read a number of my grandpa’s writings at the service in Colorado. This was my favorite. I think I may print out copies for Burning Man:

***

The World today is experiencing a great spiritual Seeking that cannot be contained or controlled by the Religious Systems. I can see how all of us are potentially unique spiritual beings. We are all connected — though we often do not realize it — with every other life, because we are connected with the One Source of All Life.

Many people are not “religiously” connected with some organized Expression of Faith, but are still Spiritual and are growing in that Spirituality. The World Religions deal so much with rituals, practices and belief Systems. One’s spirituality, I think is expressed in an intelligent inner Connection with the Divine in the world. To me it is “God’s Presence’ around, within, above, beneath, in, and through a mind and body touched by God.

I am so grateful to the Giver and Sustainer of Life that in my pilgrimage I have come to see that there is a vast difference between “Spirituality” and “Religion.” Often in Kiwanis, Lodges and Humanitarian clubs I saw more of the spirit of Christ, who to me is a Cosmic Savior, than in the activities of some churches. Today I see that seeking in “New Age” faiths, The “Jesus“ groups, ”Burning Man,” ‘Labryinths,” etc.

***

I rejoice in the “Seeking” and open search for Spirituality in many wonderful brothers and sisters I am finding in my old age. Praise God !

There is a Seeking.

Every person must forge his own spiritual path. “How we live, speak, and treat others is still the test of our Faith…This speaks more loudly than what we say.”

For me I see the Living Cosmic Christ as a permeator of the Creator’s inclusive Love for this special Creation. Many do not recognize this. Many do not know, or need to know, the inclusive power of unifying Love. It activates us. More and more, our world will sadly learn that Love is seeking larger residence in each of us. The Light still pushes back darkness. All man-made religions are being sorely tested today not only in Islam, the largest Faith on earth, but Judaism and Christianity in a crises of relevance to the liberated mind of men and women. Hinduism and Buddhism, too are seeking new Paths of relevance to mankind’s deepest needs.

No form of Institutionally can encapsulate or control spirituality. For me, the Cosmic Christ permeates the “Seeking Souls” of the earth both inside and outside the perimeters of all mysterious “Seeking.”

I’m tearing up as I write this…

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

As I look outside my window, I can see the Hugmobile parked on the street.
It is 24 feet of pink glory.
I can hardly believe that 3 months ago, it only existed in my imagination.

But with the help of Spotman, John The Grease Angel, GriffinOne, and my Mom, I have adopted and transformed this neglected Winnebago into a pink chariot of love.

I’m tearing up as I write this.

I sometimes beat myself up for not doing everything I say I will. (How’s that book coming along, Johnny boy!?)

But I did it. I made my vision into reality.

And I truly feel that my grandpa was a part of the process. Not as some sort of overseeing ghost, but in the way he is a part of me as a mentor and guide.

To make sure he is also a part of the journey, GriffinOne & I mixed some of his ashes into the paint on both of The Hugmobile’s wings.

Of course, this is just the start. There is still Burning Man, and The Hug Tour, and all sorts of interior touches I’d like to add. But every day in Southern California will be a little bit pinker thanks to the birth of the HugMobile.

Am I proud? Yes, I am.

I think Grandpa would be, too.

crazed and happy

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

I am ending a many day string of fast paced scrambling.
Filled with travel, client work, Hugmobile deadlines, and more.
I even had 2 all nighters in the last week. This is especially crazy since I never even did all nighters in college.

Of course, I was never as passionate about my coursework as I am about the Hug Tour.
Or Burning Man.
Or my client work, for that matter.

I wanted to address a few things before I attempt to take a bit of a breather and slow the pace for the next few days.

#1) ASHES
I am heading to Colorado this weekend to spread Grandpa’s ashes on Pike’s Peak with my family. I’m really looking forward to it.
Not ALL his ashes, however. I have already set aside some to use in rituals of my own. Some will be brought to Burning Man. And some were used in #2…

#2) WINGS
The Hugmobile is painted!!! GriffinOne.com used his aerosol genius to give her WINGS! And we mixed some of Grandpa’s ashes in the paint so that he will forever be a part of the journey. (Pics and video to come on HugMobile.com)

#3) SPONSORSHIP
There have been no nibbles as far as corporate sponsorship of the Hug Tour. But many HUGE hearted people have asked about donating to the cause. I have been so busy that I have not set that up. But I will soon! I truly appreciate all the thoughts and efforts. (If you know any hug-minded companies, send ‘em to: http://hugnation.com/hugmobile/tour/all.htm)

#4) DVD
One of the reason I have been so busy is I have been finishing a Grandpa / Hug Nation Tribute DVD called “Love On Demand.” This will be a gift to people who support the Tour and the HugNation cause. Details on how to get yours will be available soon.

#5) BURNING MAN
The Playa Approaches and I am SUPER excited. As of now, I am camping with Bat Country at 9:00 & Excesstuary. I’m planning on some events, including a HugNation Hug at Center Camp on Friday. (Details at the bottom of LustMonkey.com)

#6) ((HUG))
HugNations have been amazing lately. I am soooo grateful for everyone who is adding their love energy to the experience in the live chats or via the archives. It really feels like something special. I truly feel the love.

Thank you for being a part of it all.
Thank you for shining your light.
