For my bday, Vondy made me this amazing drawing!

The Webby Awards allow winners to give a 5 word speech.

Only 5 words. Like some sort of geek haiku.

It’s great because it forces people to be pretty darn creative.

In 2000, I used my 5 words to play charades.

This year I tried to so something along the same lines.

My speech didn’t work well in text…But I’m really happy with how it felt.

It was like a ‘21 Hug Salute’ to Grandpa.

I felt authentic in that moment.

I felt like I was sitting in the still truth that roots Hug Nation.

I was standing in Love.

I knew what I wanted to wear weeks ago.
It is basically the same outfit I wore to the LiB festival last month.

I saw pictures of myself and thought it would make a good webby outfit. ☺

Plus, I realized that my faux fur vest is the last remnant of the exact coat I wore onstage to accept my award for the 2000 “best personal site” Webby Award.

I cut it up and used it for Burning Man projects. All that remains are scraps…and this vest.

No wonder I feel so good in it. It has absorbed a lot of energy over it’s textilian lifetime.

Like the broken seashell story…
It isn’t “a piece of a tattered jacket”

It is a perfect vest.

The Webby Awards was SO much fun. I hugged Rob Courdry and Allison from the Office. (as well as dozens more.) Being known as “the hug guy” is pretty sweet.

They played a moving Grandpa tribute I made so everyone “got” HugNation by the time the show was over.

I’m not sure if it is because of the mac laptop cam or slow connection…but I am having trouble with getting stickam to work from a hotel.

Any suggestions on how to broadcast hugnation tomorrow?

maybe a cyber cafe that has webcams /mic? Or a freind?

Or do it without me?

OR maybe I’ll have to postpone til wed?

Since this is the first hug since the yahoo article, It would have been nice to do it right.

The webby awards are tonight. Sometime around 7 east coast, 4pm west coast, give yoruself a squeeze. I’ll be leading the audience on a hug from the stage.
